One other item I purchased for my F250 was a tachometer with an adjustable redline and shift light. Again, I have no documentation about rev limits.

Assuming the engine is stock, and it came with a 600 cfm. The maximum RPM achieveable (according to a CARTER carb chart) is 5500 RPMs.

I'm no where near that when it's ready to shift, but for ref, I should never rev faster than ?.

i'd say 5000 is the limit but i'd stay below 4500

i run a 390 in my 1974 f-350 single rear wheel, mudder/daily driver, stock bottom end ,aluminum edelbrock intake,high rev lifters, 428 scj cam, and headers, i'm going on 4 years, hard miles,my eng. revs 6600 rpm without to much effort. the biggest key is tuning the carb. took me a month to get my carb right.
