My car has a 1963 390 block that ran fine for 6 years since the rebuild. Lately the engine stalls and the car dies after about a half hour of driving. I am not an experienced mechanic but I can turn a wrench. Where should I start on diagnosing this problem?

A little more info will help you get a better answer. Is the car a 4sp or auto? What type of ignition (stock points or aftermarket MSD etc...) When the car stalls is it at speed or at a stop sign/light? Before it stalls does the engine run rough or cough? Does it start back up or will it have to sit? Hows the volts, engine temp, oil and fuel pressure etc...? Seem normal? What kind of carb? How recent was it tuned up, plugs, wires, cap, points, cond etc...? Anything new you've replaced since the problem started? Knowing these things can better help pin point the problem.

Like FFR says not enough informatioin.... but if I had to make a "guess"...it's either the carb (choke) or failing vacuum.
