Hi there

Got a brand new built 428 engine.

For the moment there is an AOD conversion kit on it but i will remove it and put a regular C6 transmission to the engine.
The AOD flexplate has balance weight welded to it.

So i figure the engine must be external balanced?

When buying a C6 flexplate is there several different flexplates to chose from to the engine?

I only have experiance of smallblock 28oz and 50oz flexplates

What about 428 flexplates?

428's, unlike other FE's are externally balanced. Someone should be by to give more in depth info.

Summit sells 2 external balanced flexplates for the FE C6. A SFI rated one for $211 by Performance Automatic and a Pioneer stock type for $81. Balance weight should be the same as the one you have now on the C4. You can bring both plates to the machine shop and have them checked to be sure balance is correct. So just shop for a external balanced FE flexplate and you should be fine.
