Hello everyone i got a 428scj that was givin to me from a family member that passed away and wanted to know what this motor is worth. i was going to put it in my 67 mustang but im going to stick with my 351w that i have built. i want to sell this motor and from what the machine shop says its a true 428 scj out of a 69 cougar he thinks? the numbers on the heads are c80e-6090n and the crank has a u1a on it. he said he would offer me 1000 for it but people are telling me its worth alot more because it spins over and i know it ran less than a year ago. i also dont know how to get the pics of the motor on here if someone can help me with that to lol
The block is a Ford big block, the u1a confirms a 428. c80e-6090n confirms a 428 SCJ. I took a quick glance and I saw just the heads going for around 800. A fully remanufactured 428 will top 10K.How many miles are on it, it might be worth tearing it down and doing a rebuild. That's a pretty special motor you got.
the motor was rebuilt less than a year ago thats why i dont want to tear it down all the way when i took the oil pan off and the valve covers off the parts all looked brand new and no sluge in the oil do you think i could ask 7k for the motor or am i do high
Well, that might be aiming a little too high, but you never know. What I saw were 2 professionally rebuilt engines with a warranty, maybe putting it on E-bay with maybe 4 to 5000dollar reserve and see what happens.
