Re: Anyone R&R an FE head without removing the intake?
it can be done no problem but you will never get the intake to seal again if you want to
put it back together without removing the manifold. There are no tricks. Take it a part.
That manifold makes up part of the head.

I'm confused. You say it can be done no problem......then you say I'll never get the intake to seal again. Wouldn't THAT be a problem?
Re: Anyone R&R an FE head without removing the intake?
Actually i made a mistake. You can't get the heads off without taking the manifold off.
The heads have to be lifted up about 1/4 inch to clear the dowel pins. With the manifold
in place this can't happen
Re: Anyone R&R an FE head without removing the intake?
Sent the last post too soon. If you do manage to wrestle the head off without removing
the manifold you will not have enough clearance when installing the new manifold
gaskets without having them pushed out and distorted. They will not seal. Very likely the
head gaskets will also leak. Give it a shot. you might luck out. Not likely but it could
happen. Good luck.
