Rear main side seals

No matter what I do, the side seals keep getting pulled down into the block when I drive in the nails. Do I need a better quality side seal? Polish the nails? Special lube?

Re: Rear main side seals

Two ways you can do it...
1) leave the seal up about an 1/8 inch and slowly nail in the rod.
2) leave the seal up just slightly, and with one hard pound hit it in.

These are the choices that man has been dealing with since the dawn of time.
