Hi all,

I need a 428 to replace the one that just blew up in my '66 Galaxie 7 Litre. A rod (or more) poked through the block on the highway over the weekend.

Hoping to find one with casting number and date code that would be appropriate/authentic to this car, so I need a C6ME-A made before Feb 4 1966 (the car's build date). My engine is dated 6A12.

Will consider complete engines (used or rebuilt), bare blocks, shortblocks, etc as I am mostly looking for one in good shape with the =right codes=. If there is a bore-able 390/410 out there I would consider that too. Goal is something that at least looks factory/stock on the outside - so I don't need aluminum heads, performance intakes, etc.

Any leads would be appreciated.

truely a nice ride....check ebay, you can find some good deals there. If you have a big enough checkbook I'll sell you my 428. C6ME- 5L26 complete and running.

Here is a 6K4 date, too late but maybe others and a good place to look:

I consider it lucky to find ANY 428 block, let alone date code - for your use if you just need the date code and about 428 cid, what about finding any 390 or even 352 block with the right date code, bore .030 and use the new 4.125" crank for 431cid, same as a bored out 428 but just a different way. It would look and feel correct and be a lot easier to find! Lots of c6me-a blocks out there but many are "thin", 390/410 blocks, just luck if one will make it out to 428 bore.
