Went to Calder on Friday (1st October) and took my new car. The old car was great but was written off in a freak incident with a metal plate in the road.
My old BA XR6T had a best of 12.24@116mph. The new one had a few extra mods and is putting out 328.7rwkw's. It went as high as 333rwkw's but we detuned it a touch for protection.
Amberley (The HorsePower Factory) did the final mods and install of the Xede aswell as the tuning.
I was using the factory 17's with factory dunlop 3000A's and hoping to get in the 11's.
This was my first time with this car at Calder and it took a bit of getting used to. The first few runs were getting quicker each time 12.3, 12.2 and 12.1. I then gave the car an hour and a half rest. The next run i did almost everything i copuld to stuff up. I hit the limiter in 1st and changed 2-3 at 3500-4000rpm. after all this the car still ran email@example.com. I thought i had blown my chance as there wouldn't be enough time for another good cooling down sesion.
A few runs latter i got it pretty right and the run felt good. i got firstname.lastname@example.org the 60' was 2.039. Mid track 660' was email@example.com.
I had a best 60' of 1.98. The car had wheelspin in first from 3500rpm till cutout which made it hard to get the 1-2 change right. There was a lot of guys from the forums there and i like to thank them for their encouragement. Especially Rod, he kept telling me i could do it.
Mate thats great!!! the turbos must be a good thing, and the old T5 gearbox cant be as crappy as a lot of people think, to put up with that many KWs.
Again congrats mate well done......
