power line is good, hasn't even started to drop off yet. Good torque gain with it too. How long till it pops a piston, stuffs a big end or shatters the gearbox???

Why so negative?? Popping pistons etc? We're on to a good thing here! Lets talk positive because power is what we have been looking for for years and now we got it.

er... correct me if I'm wrong, but I dont think a T5 can handle these minor "tweaks" on a XR6T... might not be as cheap as people are cutting it out to be...

Put a 'Mal Wood' six-speed Tremec conversion in it. Super-tough box. No worries for around $10K drive-in, drive-out. I think Herrod does them too, using Mal's kits (Mal is in Warwick, Qld - about two hours west of the Gold Coast) Essential if you're serious about a tweaked engine...

Ah seeing that we are all living in LA LA land.....

I was driving a 6 cyl turbo the other day and was doing a bit over 400km/h, 400m times were not so good but on a standing 1000m I could easily do 250km/h

30in manifold pressure on 540 cubic inchs producing 310 HP@ 2600rpm...

Beat that with a XR6 super dooper turbo...........

Its quite simple. I love V8's. I owned an XR8 (EL). I have driven every XR8 to date and I believe that as a V8, Ford has the market by the Balls. Wanna buy a Factory V8 thats sounds great without having to change the exhaust? Buy a DOHC 5.4 Ford V8 or better yet a 4.6DOHC mustand V8 and leave the exhaust the way it is. Wanna keep your ego intact in a dual with an XR6T with a couple of modds? Don't bother!! The Turbos are seriously quick stock and will be devastating with minor modds. Wanna Blow a Six turbo away? Blow your 8. Simple but start saving cause it aint gonna be cheap.

Those tweaks above are with the standard driveline. So far, ST hasnt had any reliablity concerns with said driveline.

I know the T5 aint sposed to handle any mor power or torque, But has anyone stopped to think that possibly, just possibly that the box and everything are already strengthened to 320kw/550nm? I mean, ST has proved it will hold up at those figures (for a short time at least). It's possible the strength concerns were some sort of tweaked rumour spread by Ford itself, simply to delay the inevitable mods..I mean, you cant really have News reports that the XR6T can acheive 320Kw with such minimal mods Next to the Pricing and finer details of your 290KW GT. I'm pretty sure ford wanted a few GT's on the road first :s2:

Actually now i think about it, An XR6T with above mods, May still come in UNDER the price of an XR8
