Hey - am pretty new to this site and wanted to ask a couple of questions about XR6T's:

1 - Am cosidering APS - 2 and wanted to know if anyone has had any trouble with it, as i use my car everyday? (currently have APS1 239rwkw)

2 - Has anyone managed to keep some new car warrenty on their XR's?

If you have a good relationship with your dealer then they may still help. Also if something does break, it depends on what it is and why. It may not always mean it was due to a mod.

Ford is actually quite clear with their position on warranty (see manual). They will not void your warranty for any modification; however they may refuse to cover something if a component has failed due to your modification.

As far APS kits go, if your going to go a stage 2 kit, then you need to be prepared to cover (yourself) possible transmission upgrades or clutches etc as a minimum. They 'should' hold up for stage 2 (depending on driving style ), but best be willing and ready none the less. That way you will enjoy the experience and not worry about it. If you go the stage 3, then these things are definite items that will need addressing out of your own pocket.

If the clutch goes i don't mine upgrading but if the manual box goes i don't think i will be to happy!

Has anyone heard of any problems with the manual box and APS 1-2?

From what I have seen, the T5 manual's hold together ok for Stage 1 and 2, but stage 3, ...forget it. A heavy duty 6 speed upgrade with clutch is around the $8k mark from memory. You best add this to your 'mod' bill if you plan to upgrade anymore than stage 2. Some T5 manuals can be prone to becoming harder to select gears as you increase the torque of the engine. This can happen however even in stock form, but its something you need to look out for with the stage 2. You may want to consider upgrading to a Herrod style Short shift at least.

Ford are tightening the belts ..... boils down to how much "your" dealer turns his head away ... FoMoCo are quite clear from a dealers point of view (and that is a lot harder than it is in our handbooks !!!) but the dealers want to keep their customers ....

stage 2 is the perfect combo for street/strip....manual should be ok with a stage 2...

Will the motor handle APS2 mods without to many dramas?

i know plenty of members race there cars with APS stage 2 and one with a stage 3...
Mark 100% his ute stage 3 went 11.91 with slicks and thats his daily driver, its for sale now if you want it ...big mick on street tyres 12.16 stage 2 with a few extra's...micks wife drives this car as well..
in performance there are no guarantee's but what we do know APS do plenty of R&D on there packages and you should be confident they have done lots of homework on these xr6t cars...
