Hi Guys, I am new to the forum but thought it is a great site as I am a mad Ford fan. I am about to place an order for an XR6T but have read
here of inside info re BA Series II to be released 3rd Qtr next year. Any updates on that as the new Autos and manuals seem impressive.
I cannot decide between waiting 2 months for a Series 1 or poss. 12 months for Series II. The other drama I have is Auto V Manual. I have read the threads re. this topic. Any other input from others?
I like driving a car as opposed to sitting there doing jack all, but then again an Auto has its pros in City, traffic, and when you cannot be buggered.
My work involves driving around seeing clients/suppliers etc and we have an Auto VX Commonbore S as my wife's run-araound. My heart says manual for the fun aspect ( even though the XR6T manual is not that great), my mind says wait 12 months and see what the new models have to offer.
Any assistance is appreciated.

Id go the auto, paticullary if they bring out a 6 speed (as rumoured in various threads).
The auto is a good comprise due to its sequentil sports shift which allows for the manual driving or if your lazy let it work itself in full auto mode.

I thought the 6 speed auto was only for GT's??? Plus the series II was suppose to be getting the tremec 5 speed gearbox from the 8's, so if it was me I would wait the extra time.

Thanks for the advice. After speaking with my dealer, they had a visit by Number 3 at Ford this week and assured them no BA Series II will be out in 2004. (Whether that means no XR6T but poss a standard model ????) Based on that I went ahead with my order.
I took an Auto and Manual for another test yesterday and decided with the Auto. As I will be using the car for regular work use and weekend runaround it was the best of both worlds. The manual was more fun initially, might launch quicker in 1st, but after that I could not pick much diff. with the SSS auto. The manual shift between 2nd and 3rd is huge and slow compared to SSS. The SSS shifts are instant and might outperform the manual in a 400m run.
Funny though, If I did not add further extras to the car, I would have had a delivery in 2 weeks. I placed my initial order in early July, but had it on hold. They anticpate mid Sept for my car. Compared to others who claim 3 - 6 mths waiting period, Etheridge Ford in Vic have some great allocations!!!!!!
I put in an order for a automatic xr6 turbo last week.
I heard an ad on the radio this morning and it made it sound like the automatic xr6t came with the sequential shift as an option on the automatic. (not as standard on the automatic).
Can anyone let me know if the automatic only comes with sequential shift or not?

Sequential shift is standard fit on all models including XT. Have a look for yourself "here" there is no option for it!
Cheers
