BA XR design - where does it come from?

I am wondering that why the BA XR design is so good. I think it comes from E39 BMW M5, do you agree?

Re: BA XR design - where does it come from?

A designer called Nick ..... something.... was hired by Ford to design the XR front. It borrows nothing from any other car maker, it cost Ford a lot of money but it paid off. Someone on hear will remember his name...

Yoot I think Nick was signed up by Holden. I remember reading the article in Motor and thinking what the hell was Ford doing letting him go?

Think his name was Nick Hogios.
Pretty sure he went to Toyota and was involved in a turbocharged concept for them.

Re: BA XR design - where does it come from?

But I think some exterior and interior details are similar to E39 M5. See photos

You are correct, the whole BA range was benchmarked against the BMW M5 and a few other models purely for style and poise. I think they did quite well don't you think?

Geoff Pollities made it clear that BMW was his inspiration. The X5 got a look in during Territory development.
