I am wondering that why the BA XR design is so good. I think it comes from E39 BMW M5, do you agree?

A designer called Nick ..... something.... was hired by Ford to design the XR front. It borrows nothing from any other car maker, it cost Ford a lot of money but it paid off. Someone on hear will remember his name... :hy:
Yoot I think Nick was signed up by Holden. I remember reading the article in Motor and thinking what the hell was Ford doing letting him go? :whoaa:

But I think some exterior and interior details are similar to E39 M5. See photos
You are correct, the whole BA range was benchmarked against the BMW M5 and a few other models purely for style and poise. I think they did quite well don't you think?

Geoff Pollities made it clear that BMW was his inspiration. The X5 got a look in during Territory development.

In 2000 I read an article on a magazine about "BMW M5 vs MERCEDES E55" and I fell in love with the M5 (unfortunatelly, cant afford it!! :priest: )
Until I bought a Falcon, of course I love it but I dont know why?? Now I realise that it is similar to my dream car E39 M5!!!
I am more confused!!!! see attached photos
(first one is from HONDA Integra Type R 2001 and last one is from BMW M3)

The BA is basically a collection of proven design themes and concepts from other manufacturers and Nick .... was not soley responsible for the design. Everyone is forgetting that Ford poached highly experienced designers from both Audi and Aston Martin to oversee the design development of the BA. Afterall - this was their make or break car. As for the rear lights they were 'borrowed' from the Audi A6 as the chief designer came from Audi.

I didnt realise the similarties (hows my spelling?) between the BMW and the XRs till now, but i dont really care cos they both look good well the BMW looks good and the XRs look awesome!! I was only just saying today how i didnt mind the AU when it first came out but now it looks fugly compared to the BA. Just hope they can keep these good looks going on.

Just a quick thing on the BMWs anyone noticed the headlights on the new ones I think its just the parkers but it looks sort of like a halogen cooktop looks pretty cool i reckon.
