FLipping through motor i think it was a little while ago (no cover so im not sure which issue) i saw they interviewed the engine testers at ford about the kw output for the engine. One of the blokes said it was showing as high as 270kw in testing.

So say if someone starts modding there BAXR6T what do u expect the power figues you could get out of this engine??

I thought they had achieved 350kw @ the flywheel during durability testing?

I can second this, as a mate of mine [a service manager] was told this on a recent trip to ford for a new course on BA servicing.

Depends whats done to it and how far the owner is willing to go.

Run it at too much boost and it'll blow. The more the boost, the less reliable - just ask the doof doof boys when they get their wrxs to run too much boost :)

a broken down doof-doof mobile always brings a smile to my face.......

Considering however that the xr6t is running only 5psi, it has quite a bit of potential...

it was said in these forums ealier before release that it was putting out 300kw,but only lasted 500hrs on the dyno.

thats what i thought seeing it runs such a low psi that someone could really tune it up.

totally agree theres gotta be a limit to what you can do because the engine will become unreilable and blow which would be such a bummer :)

Iin the latest zoom magazine, its quoted that the BA XR6T will be the VL Turbo of the future. The Vl currently runs 9sec down the 1/4 mile and in the future the XR6T will match that. It also goes onto to say that ford had to lower the boost to 6 psi, use a highly restricive exhaust package, poor ignition timing, basic standard cam etc on the engine to get it to around 240KW. Initially the engine had a nice exhaust system, good timing, and a good cam aswell as having 8 psi of boost but were amazed when the engine stood at 280 KW. So it is really restrictive at the moment and with a few other modified ford turbo cars that have been published in magazines, this engine looks to be a star performer in the future.

This seems all good and well, but I read some were that it would be difficult to mod the Turbo because of the computer and such other items (as mentioned by Thomas). If it is as hard as some people are saying, wouldn't it be rather expensive to hot up the Turbo?

I personally would spend big $$$ on a car just I can have bragging rights and the like. But thats just me

It should put out 400Kw easy once the computer is overridden.
12-15psi, big FMIC, big exhaust etc etc On stock internals and pump fuel.

Lets hope its as internally stong as a Supra (800+hp stock bottom end)
