just noticed a few clunk clunks from the diff of late, not always just now and then, is this a common problem when the power is increased or a factory fault?

also ,have many people changed ratios and if yes what have been the benefits?

Diff problems are common in the ford BA range. The most common problem is the diff clunk that you are refuring to. The second most common problem is the diff whine, I am currently suffering from that one. The good news is, is that Ford is well aware of the problem and are doing something about it. I start to get the whine on Saturday and I took the car in on the Monday for the Ford service center to road test the diff to see if it was safe to drive. During the road test the service manager said that they will replace the whole rear end under warranty.

Hi Guys My Mk2 Turbo has a clunky gear box and drive line from day one and I've been taking it back to ford service and they would keep on saying that all the 6 speeds are clunky. So I went to another dealer last week and the car is going in for What Ford calls a Drive Line upgrade kit.Apparently the boxs are on the wrong angle or something, don't know full details till I drop it off today so I'll let yas know.

Had a diff and r/h shaft replaced under warranty. Diff whine has gone but clunking is as bad as ever - maybe the clunk is more to do with couplings between the gearbox and diff??

The diff clunk is a standard feature on Ba's and yes its fooken ridiculous and yes i got told they all have it but it still shouldnt be acceptable.

hey mate not getting much clunking but i keep smashing the diff cap on my phoone have u had this problem or know of any 1 who has i havin brocken 2 the second 1 i had strengthined and it still broke
