F6 or GT Series 2?
Hmmm 270kW and 550Nm for an F6 or a tickle more than 290kW and 520Nm for a GT Series 2. My current BA XR6 (NA) manual will be two years old come Forth Quarter of 2004. Its been terrific, had an issue with the gearbox/clutch which is now sorted and i'm planning ahead for its replacement and will be sorry to see it go.
Now as all good things, I want more power. I've driven an XR6T and I didn't like it the noise wasn't my cup of tea. I didn't like the gearbox in either manual or auto. But the power was good.
I've had the fun of driving an XR8 manual a few times and geez its a blast. I find I actually use less petrol in the XR8 over the XR6 because I don't have to work the car so hard to get going how I want to. But while an XR8 would be nice - a GT could be better (more power, more refined, blah blah). But how about the F6. All the good bits of the GT (brakes, gearbox, suspension, etc) but without the weight over the front end.
But what about the sound? Hmmm Not sure. I'd have to hear one for myself - and I don't mean a brief rev, i'd like to go for a ride (passenger or driver, prefer the latter) take some corners and do back to back comparisons.
Also there is the current oil burning issue of the FPV V8's. I like my cars to drive smooth and without fuss. I check my oil fortnightly in the XR6 but its never needed a top up. Could the F6 give me this no-fuss motoring? perhaps.
But that V8 noise - oh the noise.
*sigh* I guess i'll just have to wait 4 - 5months

* Gearbox (3rd time)
* Steering click (5th time)
* Brake Shudder (2nd time, and has the applied "Fix")
