I've been getting quotes on insuring the beast and thought I'd share them with you guys. I's been......er.....interesting!

The quotes are all for $64,000 , private use, single driver aged 45, max no-claim and no negative history.

NRMA: $2358.00 (plus windscreen..$58.00)

AAMI: $1489.00 but require satellite tracking installed

JUSTCAR: $3036.00

SHANNONS: $1417.00 (but has a limited use clause)

NRMA and SHANNONS also offer lifetime no-claim protection.

What state are you in?
RACV is nearly always cheapest in Victoria.

I'm in NSW so the NRMA rates will be equivalent to RACV.

Is insurance that had to get on a GT as well or is it just because the F6 is forced?

For me here in VIC 32 y/o

GT insurance at an agreed value of $65,000 was just under $1700 p.a. through the RACV. And that's with no insurance history at all, as my prior employers have self insured their fleets.

I would expect the F6 to be more expensive, and am hoping for about $2500 or less

I don't see why the F6 would be more expensive....it just doesn't make sense. Shannons were happy to insure me calling the vehicle a "modified" XR6 turbo as they didn't have details on the F6 at the time.
One thing that does make a considerable difference is the address where the vehicle will be kept. Anywhere in Sydney is notoriously expensive.

I wouldn't call the quotes by Shannons or AAMI particularly dear for the vehicle at all and it's certainly not hard to get. Just obviously worth a lot of shopping around for as the differences are amazing.

Yes, there is a huge variation in quotes with any car. I had quote on mine ranging from $1000 to $500 which I pay. And yes, age and location have a lot to do with it. Some give you a discount if it is locked up at night, some dont. You can also get discounts if you agree that no-one under 30 driving it will be covered.

It DEFINITELY pays to look around. I am with Allianz at the moment, I'd be curious to see what they would insure the F6 for actually....

Location makes more difference than people realise - im an insurance broker & was playin around with a few quotes & did a quote for myself for a 200sx here on the gold coast. Premium was around $1200. Then i kept chaniging the suburb around to see the difference in premiums. Cabramatta in NSW was the worst - premium jumped to above $9 grand. The i put the no claim bonus to 0 & it went to $21k!

I rang Allianz (twice in fact) and both times they've rung me back requesting more information before telling me they'll ring me back with a "final quote". That final quote I've been waiting for for over a week so i'm a little peed off with them. I'd heard they were good tho (I think Ford Insurance is underwritten by Allianz, but I could be wrong).

Yeah, I saw some of those posts before and I guess it just confirms what everyone experiences, especially with a new model. Theres certainly some smaller companies around willing to offer cheaper rates, but I'm kind of reluctant to go with a cheapie.
Also, even when I told NRMA I'd been offered premiums under $1500 they wouldn't budge.
