I would assume that there is more than one person working on this and that the people who suplied the twin plate clutch have sold that style of clutch before.

Christmas will be here soon. Will the typhoon be here soon?

I wouldn't mind one of these phone calls from david either. Not because i own a typhoon. but a would like 1st hand what the hell is going on. should i take my business elsewhere? i am nice guy. i promise i won't bite
yes but they dont want this reacuring so they making sure of it.

you wouldnt want to set up say a big network for some mob then a week later crashing on you cause u didnt take time to rectify the problem would u?

it is a bit harsh to call the typhoon a lemon cause of a tiny circlip isnt it?

cheers

Re: The F6... The (P76) Cult Car of the 21st Century

well i would love to see them eat those words in the next passing weeks, I have been lucky enough to have 2 seperate Typhoons in my hand for a couple of days each to tinker, I dont care what ANYONE would have been stupid enough to yell out the window at me if i owned one because the bottom line is, A typhoon when massaged correctly is a no holes bared Performance machine.. Ive owned V8's my enitre life, ive been in a skylines and a few other fast turbo cars. Ive now had 2 sleepless nights of trying to decide if i should take the opertunity to now own one of these things.

I just cant believe how nice these cars are and the potential they have for power is better then anything i can think of.

R33GTR, we can all understand where you're coming from but you also have to remember that Flinty was also responsible for many Tickford products over the past decade that we've all grown to love. The EF XR6, EB/EL GT and the T3's to name a few. Its amazing how we tend to forget ones achievements and leadership when something like this occurs. The poor guy is under enough pressure as it is and believe you me his arse would be getting reemed repeatedly by his board of management at Prodrive. Unfortunately the automotive industry is one where mistakes such as this can't be swept under the rug and forgotten about either. A solution has to be found and tested, and tested again, and again in order to ensure the same problem won't arise in the future. Believe it or not its actually a good thing that this clutch fix is taking so long because at least you know they are taking their time in order to do it right (or maybe they're stalling to quickly engineer a twin turbo Typhoon - just like it should have been!). Just remember that good things come to those who wait!

Cmon guys, its not really flintys fault, Anyone thats actually talked to the man will find him to ne a gentleman.

This isnt something he could have foreseen because obviously if he had a crystal ball, things would have been different.. Imagine how much testinig they are doing now to make sure it doesnt happen again, once bitten twice shy??

Re: The F6... The (P76) Cult Car of the 21st Century

I don't drive mine much, but i had two compliments the other day, one from a cop, the other from a bloke that came up to me in the car park. I remember the first week i had it, everybody just couldn't stop staring. I am lucky enough not to cop any public abuse like that. Really though It has been 3 months since the stopped production. What are they doing?

Unfortunately that one little circlip renders the car useless. Computers crash all the time, hence i keep my job. But these crashes are generally the end user either changing things they shouldn't or downloading crap. Never lost a database yet, nor do i ever intend to. Everything is tested. it either works or it doesn't. Yes there can be teething problems, but these will be sorted out on monday. Never had any issues outstanding for months at a time.

I still love the car. and i still intend on buying one. but i know what the car is all about. the general public outside these forums think that car is a heap of shit. rightly so too. but they have not been educated on the progress of the car. hence the comments out the window from other road users. The car has been blacklisted from the media. it only takes 2 seconds to destroy a reputation but years to build it up again. Hopefully when it is finally released again it will be trouble free and change the perseption of the publics views of the car.

Re: The F6... The (P76) Cult Car of the 21st Century

BDAZLA, i agree with you. Despite all this - if I was in this market right now - I would be waiting till the fix comes, then getting straight into one! Sure, the cars reputation has been punished via the media, etc but I am not going to boycot the entire F6 experience because of one stuff up. The testing regime was not implemented by an error free super computer...but by humans.

Hell, I'm in IT as well, and have been involved with huge amounts of testing of systems that will become the backbone on an entire education institution....and sometimes things go wrong no matter how much/or which way you tested something.

To suggest the F6 is going to be the lemon of the 21st century is utter crap. Its sad for FPV and current F6 owners...but when this is all over, you will look forward to the guy who bags your car at the lights because he'll be red-faced when you smoke him.

Re: The F6... The (P76) Cult Car of the 21st Century

Did anyone see the Typhoon racing at the Clipsal race in adelaide? I was talking it up about how much of a weapon these things potentially are to my mates, and the bloody thing was an embarrasment!

It would be worth their while to take it to Simon at Xtreme next time they race in WA!

Yes I did I was watching it there with me mates, the only thing I could think to say to them that obviously the driver did not want to risk damaging it.

I have to say it sure sounded very different to the OLD Ford and holden V8's.... almost like it was on the edge of something blowing up big time... a high pitched stressed sound.....

I also have to admit when all the V8 supercars were on the gris powering up for the start.... made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end.... you just cant beat that V8 rumble....
