Re: fpv brake squeel

Had mine back at the dealers yesterday. They put some red compound between the pads and the pistons/calipers. Squeal has gone......for now!

Prior to leaving it with them they mentioned something about an upgrade or fix, which they thought that mine already had as the build date was June 05. If it already had the fix, maybe the compound was something they're trialling?

Will let you know if the squeal comes back.

Re: fpv brake squeel

Just a quick note to anyone thinking of trying the anti-squeal compound on their brake pads - mine has started squealing again!

As per post above, my local dealer applied the red compound which stopped the squeal for about 5 days. It's not quite as bad as it was yet, but it's definitely back!

Re: fpv brake squeel

Spoke to my dealer today about address the brake squeal at the next service when I'm ready. They claim that the noise is due to the brake pads that come with the PBR unit's and have been changing over their clients FPV's to another compound which apparently fix's the squeal completely.

Re: fpv brake squeel

I have the PRemo's on my T and they squeeled really bad. After 10,000km of ear damage, Ford said they had a fix. Got the new "fixed" pads and it was all good for 2,000km. It then started again, so my mechanic said get some Metal Kings and I have now had 10,000+km of quite driving.
So, if you are sick of the squeel, get Metal Kings as you will be happy with the performance and quietness

I have now reinstalled my Bendix ulitimate pads & CRC anti squeal, this has reduced the problem( initially it was quiet for about a day) but not fixed.

Time to throw the discs away me think.

Re: fpv brake squeel

guys thanks for the tips.
it just pisses me off that you drive around in a $60 000 car and its fukin brakes squeel like someone stuck baby animals in there gettin minced up.
and how old mate put it u pull up late and everyone thinks your a bloody wanker.
what shits me more is that i take it back to the dealer and they never seem to give a fuk.
I once owned a xrturbo and the fukin things brakes made that unbearable whooshig noise.
The thing is i took it to get its 30 000kms service and i was also considering getting the fpv brake upgrade.
but at about 4:00pm i get a phone call saying that some sevice mech fuk had an accident in my turbo.
long story short i got the typhoon instead.
but the thing that fuks with me is that the brakes i was going to get on the t came standard on the phoon so i thought i wont worry about changing discs or calipers.
and thats the kick in the arse u spend all that money on a better car and its brakes squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!!!!!!!!!!!
ispose if i had spent the 3 grand on doing it to the turbo i guess that i would have been ready to take them back to the dealer and shouving them right up there arse hole
but then i was considering getting the brembos but one of you fellas reckon same problem so what now.
has anybody tried other brands like dba's range of gear anyhow i guess we have to keep trying stuff ourselves for best results as fpv will propbably take another 3 years
