Doubt if it will happen.
Lets see the rammifcations:
GT V8 is no longer the pride of the fleet.
Most high end buyers are around 35-45 years old i.e. grew up in the GTHO era
FPV sell about 10 turbo 6s to sons of rich buggers.
Sales of GT & GT-P stop almost instantly as their main sales demographic have been betrayed.
Q. Why are HSV and FPV successes and Mitsubishi EVOs, GTR Skylines etc flops?
A. Coz the people who want the turbos can't afford them and the people who can afford them want V8s
A simple test for you to try yourself.
A GT is really an XR8 with better seats, wheels, engine, brakes etc...
How many XR6Ts have you seen with:
Premium Brakes, Leather, Prem Sound, 18s etc.
Not many, most are fairly close to standard.
Now I know I am going to draw flames from the "Turbo is God: crowd but remember:
FORD make their money from SELLING cars not building the best droolmobiles. I personally know several GT/GT-P/Pursuit owners and NONE of them would have bought a turbo.
If there are any FPV owners out there who would have the 6 instead please post.
Also if there are any others who would buy one and CAN ACTUALLY afford to do so.... ditto
