Re: Got Flashed!!!!

did u regap your plugs? factory gap is 1.1mm i think...take them down to .8mm or .75 mm. the inrush of air under boost blows the spark out.

if not you may have valvespring issues (i doubt it at 9psi but) does it hesitate and stumble when u back off or just cough for a second then it okay again?

Re: Got Flashed!!!!

i didn't regap.
nah it doesn't hesitate or stumble at al! drives perfectly! jst those 3 times it thought for a second? i'm running 12 psi now.

mate thinks it's like a glitch with the standard boost limiter, limits the boost then remembers it's allowed too go to 12 now!?

hasn't happened for a few days, i think maybe she jst needed some time to break in to the new program and the extra pwr running through all her bits and pieces..............

Re: Got Flashed!!!!

if. u upped the boost and didnt regap your plugs your missing out.
it makes a huge difference.

im running 15/16 psi and i was running .78mm Simon from Xtreme tunes my car to 300rwkw and 800nm he recommended that i regap them again to .78 to .75 and it made a huge difference.
my auto ute used to turn the tires in first gear with ease and give a slight chirp into second. with the plugs regapped it will now turn the tires all through first and second gear now.

all i can say is it takes me about 40mins and 2 and a half beers to do it in my driveway so it shoudlnt take a good mechanic andy more than half an hour in a workshop

Re: Got Flashed!!!!

ok, do u mind explaining the whole re gap thing a bit.
admittedly it's something i've never heard of before, or read anything about on this forum(yes i live ander a rock....hehe)

from wat i gather it's to do with the gap between the spark plug and something else?

please explain if u wouldn't mind??

wondering how, if it's such a good mod to do, everyones not doin it?

Re: Got Flashed!!!!

the "gap" is the distance between the end of the electrode and the "bridge" on the end of the spark plug. if you dont have the knowledge or tools to remove the plugs and regap u can buy them pre gapped at .75mm from ford as my tuner (Simon from Xtreme ford tuning) tells me. pm Xtreme F6 and he should be able to give the part number.

i think you'll find that most tuners do it as part of there custom tune service.
everybody i know that runs a generic capa tune or a custom tune has done this..

Re: Got Flashed!!!!

I dont know if many of you guys that have had the plugs on their phoon regapped are aware but at the 30,000km service Ford replace the plugs...... just something to keep in mind for that service.
