Hay esky my XT V8 5speed get's delivered in two weeks.
I liked the look of the XR6 turbo, but i live in the out back and iam not sure how the turbo 6 will handle the heat out here.
Plus there is a two month delivery time and i hate waiting for anything.
Davo
Love the color certainly looks the part , just need to run her in a bit and show some of the import guys they have a new kid on the block. I agree with Rsgerry , you should be out there eating up a few corners.
If there was purple wheel and knob i would have had it, but blue will conflict with the purple. So the wife/interior designer told me. So it was either grey or red, and it's a sports car dam it, so red it is!
If i had to order it again i would has just got the sports wheel, but the **** knob kicks arse! But then again, my dealer gave them to me for nothin, so i can't complain.
I've already clocked up a few hundred kms. Had a GTS coupe following me through Parra this morning.
Only a few more days and she'll be ready for some whop arse!
Sorry to bring rain on the parade dood but your giving your car shit before it's been worn it. Wear it in, get it serviced and then take it out and give it some pedal. IF you want it to look after you then you should look after it. I know it's your car (AND WHAT A CAR - I'm ready to sell my 2nd kidney to get one!) but dood you should look after it. If you do look after it and keep it under 3K at all times then your going to have this thing for years to come and have all that time to much SS's and STi's. If you keep at it the way you are going it ain't going to be long until you come in for a 1300 Km rebuild :fraz: What city do you live in? If you live in Perth I'll be looking out for the only XR6 Turbo on the road damn hard haha! Keep cruising and that 2000KM won't last to long. But be sensible - this is one present you don't want to break soon. "Esky, first XR6-T owner on FF" :s3
PS. When you get some exterior pics email/pm me and send them over so I can use them on the site... thanks mate.

There are two schools of thought on running cars in. 1) as you’ve alluded. Don’t go above a certain rev range before a specified period, either km or time. 2) Run it in using different rev ranges during warm km.
Now, when studding my engineering degree I was able to build 2 engines and run them in using both methods. After 1000km I pulled them apart and measured the wear. This also included lubricant analysis of engine oil and water. This showed the bedding down process and which metals were worn away.
My conclusion for a piston engine was. It was better to vary the rpm over a 1000km time frame during warm km.
If you’re really interested, I can drag up some SAE papers that give limited support for this method of running in an engine. Rotary engines are a different kettle of fish, and fortunately a fellow student completed the same test with a 13B. But who cares.
I am no technical genius(obvious, isnt it?), however, from my own observations (from 'running in many rentals and demonstrators - I have sold and rented cars) The latter school of thought by far yields the 'fresher' more responsive engine.
just my simpleton observations.
Ohhh my fiance is a purple freak, so could ya get a shot of the the whole car with the sun beating down on it? cheers ya lucky bastard.
re the wheel and knob.

Aren't the seats trimmed in blue? (in ref to blue not matching the wheel). If so, couldn't you have ordered the red interior trim to match the wheel? (so many qns....)
Enjoy your new toy Esky, us Sydney guys should catch up one night somewhere to drool over the machines...........
