Over Xmas I decided to sell my EL 5.0L Fairmont and the $18k odd of brand new engine bits including supercharger kit that I had brought for a new engine for the car. Main reason was that with my job I would never get the time to put the thing together.
I decided to buy an XR6T for the simply reason that standard they are quicker than an XR8 and nearly as quick as a GT. They were also cheaper. The icing on the car was that I also wanted an APS Stage 2 kit fitted to it. This appealed to me as I simply drive in and drive out. Car is off the road for a few days.
Anyway, enough waffle, I have had the APS Stage II kit fitted in the last couple of weeks and tonight I went to Calder to see how quick the car was.
Tonight
******
The car has significantly less then 5,000ks on the clock, still has the same air in the 17" rear tyres as the day I picked it up from the dealer.
I drove off the street and had to wait for probably 1 hour becuase of an oil spill. First run was:
13.159 @ 108.61mph 60' was 2.262
I didn't not stall the car much, just basically floored it.
Second run was within about 10 minutes of the first run. This time I stalled it up to 2,000 rpm:
12.919 @ 109.62mph 60' was 2.122 (I am now in the 12 second club)
I then let the car sit for about 30mins and did one final run, again stalling it to about 2,000rpm:
12.586 @ 113.00mph 60' was 2.120
Wowwwwwwwww
XRFPV8 witnessed this run as he was racing against me!
I do not recall any wheelspin in any of the above runs. Just goes to show how easy it can be to get your XR6T sedan into the 12's on factory 17" street tyres.
I have also had APS do the auto mod (line pressure increase), fit a trans cooler and upgrade the valve springs.
I could not be more happy with the quality of APS's work and I think the performance figures speak for themselves.
Cheers,
Mick
