mad Immobilised

Here's a clever little bit of design work. My XR6T, manual premium sound, has sat outside unlocked for the past 5 days since the DumbShield immobiliser spat the dummy on Christmas Day. It started OK once that morning when I moved it to wash it then started OK the second time, ran for about 5 secs and stopped. Subsequent attempts to restart with either of the correct keys, to lock the car or to operate power windows were all to no avail. No audio, no interior lights and you can only get into the boot via the rear seat. The audio lcd flashes up "Security Code Error" each time correct key inserted and turned. Nothing in the manual about reprogramming keys or remotes helped and neither could Ford Assist (although I must add they were available on Christmas Day). I recalled another Forum thread about low voltage battery giving similar symptoms but a check of voltages, plus a battery recharge and also leaving battery disconnected from the system overnight all failed. Visual check of all fuses and nothing more until it could be towed to a Ford Dealer today 5 days later due to public holidays & weekend. NRMA also couldnt fix it when they came to put it on the tilt truck. Result at the local Ford Dealers- they found a blown 5amp body electronics module fuse, but no reason why it had failed. Lucky I live in a rural area & the car wasnt parked on a street with the windows down at the time as with this problem it is impossible to either start , lock or secure the car. Hope this may assist other people, if they have a similar problem. Not a happy camper Jan!
