Lights upgrade for XR6T UTE

Hi all
Has anybody upgraded their globes on the head lights? Low beam in particular seems a little dull.
Ian

Yeah I've got Philips +50 globes in my Pursuit. It's whiter light but I thought the BA lights were pretty good anyhow.

My low beam seem to be dull as well. I just thought that they were facing down too much, But the high beams are awesome.
Also can u adjust the fog lights ie: point them down, i was told the SS foggies are adjustable

Yep. I have Hella +50 Xenon Halogens in mine.
The original H4's are good , but these are a shitload better again.

Poodge, If you look directly under the fog lights there's a hole in the under tray with an adjuster inside.Only up and down though(all you actually need really).

Hey dont the Xenon's need high voltage to work? How did you fit all that too the ute? Sounds expensive...?

They're a standard replacement for the normal H4 globes.
They usually cost around $120 for a pair.

Re: Lights upgrade for XR6T UTE

I personally think the BA lights on the GT are a disgrace.
After a cruise up some dark and wet mountain road yesterday evening I'd have to say they have too sharp a cut off on either beam and very poor spread.

Basically had to run the ricer lights (sorry fog lamps) to get a decent view of the roadside in tight corners and may as well not have bothered using the high beams for all the use they were.
Should just have given my passenger (xa-coupe) a Dolphin torch and got him to shine it out the window.

Have checked the alignment (to specification) so the next step will be some better globes and I'll see what that does. Otherwise I'll see what the Hella people have in the way of driving lights that can be fitted where the fog lamps are.

Pity to see really. The AU lights were excellent and I haven't had this issue on a Ford since the EF XR.

Cheers

Russ,
The lights aren't as good as the AU XR setup but I find them to be very good regardless. use the upgraded globes and you should do okay.

Having said that I'm looking for the article I saw that explains how an old fart like you needs something like four times the light to see the same as one of us young 'uns.
