No restrictions in NSW either, thats why i asked. Mate of mine is 19, has an XR8 ute, and has never had any issues apart from an enormous insurance premium (gotta be expected though).
Ford Passenger car BA Falcon Sedan 4.0L 220 KW (BA Turbo)
Ford Passenger car BA Falcon Sedan 5.4L 220 KW (BA V8)
Is that a typo? Or conspiracy theory...remember people speculating that the BA I6 turbo would be around 220kw, or a low psi variant would be in a Fairmont or the like?
Did the Victorian government have inside information before anyone else? Do they have current information about the BA series 2? It's not altogther ridiculous. I mean they have to legislate and update their regulationd and whatnot and this takes time..?
God insurance sucks. I won't be able to afford a performance car for another 4 years. By then I'll be an old man. ;-)
I just realised, looking at the figures for the ol' 351 in the GT HO compared to the figures for the force-fed BA 4L 6...

Ford GT HO XW Sedan 5.8L 224 KW (No real suprise there)
Ford Passenger car BA Falcon Sedan 4.0L 220 KW (BA Turbo)
While I know the two different engines would 'feel' very different, the torque and horsepower curves would be different, but if those figures are correct, 4 KW difference between a 5.8L V8 and a Turbo 4L I6...
Ok, well, I thought it was interesting...

Unfortunately, the figures are not correct. The actual difference in the motor is 24kW (XR6T 240kW from factory). Keep in mind though, a lot of people speculate/d about both of these vehicles that Ford underquoted power figures. In the case of the T, there 240kW is the minimum the engine will be putting out, some stockers are doing a fair bit over that.
Still VERY impressive figures by the ol' V8!

I am now the proud owner of an XR6 Turbo and loving life. In regards to the P Platers driving an XR6 Turbo...... You can.....illegally. I'm 20 and have had the BA for the past month. I got my insurance though Just Car and there was no hassles. They did not even ask me about it. The only issue I have is the cops. I'm not doing anything stupid until I'm off my P's which is next month.
I hope this post helps some of the P Platers out there thinking about buying a XR6T.
