I don't think there will be much in it down the drag strip but who cares even if the SS wins by a hairs breath it's still a high tech 4L against a lowtech poxy 5.7L

I am not going to start a debate here, but your indirectly saying that the windsor is a "poxy low tech engine" i think some here will disagree, at least the ls1 is a quick "poxy low tech engine" i would be unhappy then if such an engine could keep up with my high tech engine.

Ken Oath, yes i understand that the majority on this foum dont think like that, it s a pity the minority taint the appearance of the forum.

Hey the winsor IS a poxy low tech poo box I'm not saying it's good either and your right the LS1 is a quick motor but for f%$ks sake it's nearly 6L!!! If it wasn't quick in a car like a commie there would be a problem.
Saying that there low tech doesn't mean they suck competly I'm mean a 250kw car is not to be sneesed at and I love the noise of a v8.

Fair enough, i guess i am old school, i dont need the engine to have multi valve, overhead cames or VCT to beleive its good, i let the engine speak for its self, couldnt care less if it has pushrods or not if it makes the power and goes then its all good in my opinion.

The ls1 can makes huge power for its displacement, alot more then engines of similar displacement.

Don't worry LS1 owners has the advantage of hacking into the PCM unit with LS1Edit and get more HP.While Ford has an anti-tampering device that needs to be cracked in the aftermarket game.

What makes the LS1 low tech? It's powerful, it's efficient, (I guarantee more efficient than than the 5.4), it's quiet (but can be loud if you want it) it's all-alloy. Must be missing something..... Oh it doesn't have twin cam to get the same results? Oh it must be crap then. I'll just go buy myself a Hyundai Excel with twin cam.....TECHNOLOGY!!!!!

aaand it uses 10 litres of oil per 10000K, it needs engine rebuilds 3 per a warranty, and it wasn't that fast even compared with the old windsor!
450NM coming at 2000 all the way to 4500 is equal to a 465NM at 4400rpm??????remember AMG C class?? well the new XR6T is about same power, torque curve and weight. GET OVER IT, it's a good new car.

The LS1 is all alloy, has SIX bolt mains, roller rockers, roller camshaft followers is lightweight and compact - it is as about as sophisticated as a OHV engine can get and uses a lot of it's ideas from the enormous 350 Chev aftermarket eg Rodek block.

Don't let the facts get in the way of a good story there!

It flogged the Windsor everywhere - why do you think they went with the 5.4 L for Barra?
