I think Wheels mag got a 0-100km/h in 6secs and 1/4's in 14.4 keeping in mind that wheels are conservative testers ie using 2 up and 1/3 tank of fuel, and also keeping in mind the car is brand new.

Not hard to get 5.8 0-100km/h and a dead 14.00 1/4 mile.

Lets look at it this way, if you spent similar ammount on both XR6T and SS, you are goin to end up in a similar place, The basics on the Xr6T, bigger intercooler, bigger turbo, exhaust and induction, then reprogramed PCM (once its possible). Then the basics on the SS exhaust and induction, mild cam, ls1 edit. You will both be in the 12's (ls1 has allready been proven), costs will probably be similar. these are the basics that an enthusiast will do whilst keeping the car streetable and a daily driver. Not much in it at all. Of coarse this is a very broad generalization but the times are acheivable. So the archaic pushrod does allright for itself. Bottom line is its going to be a competition not a domination by anyone.

C'mon guys. The light is pretty bright at the moment and some of us just can't see it. It is called volumetric efficiency. The BMW's M3 engine was voted by numerous judges as the best engine available in the world recently. It is an inline six DOHC much like the FALCON SIX but a little bit more advanced. It produces R8 power outputs out of a 3.2 litre DOHC six. Doesn't that tell you pushrod defenders something? It produces 78.75kw per litre. The XR6T produces 60kw per litre and the HSV GTS 300 produces 52.63kw per litre and the VY SS 41.22kw per litre. The writing is on the wall. Please observe.

I can just see this as just another bitch fest! 90% of people don't give a rats about volumetric efficiency. Its the amount of HP you can get. And what else who gives a flying buggery either engines work basically the same way with high or low tech. I care about HP not technology. :)

Tell me Krusty, Do you still have and use one of those big, ugly but functional mobile phones commonly referred to as a "Brick". You can get smaller ones now that do the job even better and use less space.

I would have thought by now it had been made clear on this forum that slagging off at Holdens isn't encouraged.
I'm going to close this thread (unfortunately) because the few good and informative posts in it have been spoilt by the stupidity.

To krusty and carazy - you have PM's.
