Turbo, Twin cam, XR6 on the way.

In the not too distant future Ford will be offering a Turbocharged, D.O.H.C. 4.0l six cylinder engine in a Falcon. Developmental testing is well advanced. The target was to achieve 430nm of torque, and that has been met quite easily. my source told me that the cylinder head design is very similar to the Godzilla (Skyline GTR), and with a little tweaking could easily produce a reliable 450 horsepower at the flywheel. I know the source well enough to know that he was telling me the truth.

Do you know if it will be for the XR6 only or will it be opional across the range like the VL Turbo?
And will it be released in the AU or will it go into the next Falcon? (AV??)

Its bloody good news none the less :D:D

Don't have that information yet, but I would think (subject to durability testing and all the other developmental stuff), that it would be the next model.

Hmm Interesting - It would be nice if it does happen, There has been unconfirmed reports of a DOHC Turbo Falcon since the EA was introduced in 1988. Can't rush these things now can we.

I personally feel it would be better supercharged and not turbo'd but I wouldn't say no to either

Cheers all

Paul

I think we will definitely see the twin cam turbo for a ford 6 if you dont know Prodrive has bought Tickford. With Prodrive involve in WRC and F1 and touring cars... I hope they can create something into our road cars.
Which sadly I think it would be the end of XR series and the beginining of the P series.
As long as Prodrive deliver the goods I'm there.
