Well whatever the excuse or reason might be im sure it can be much quicker on the straight line in stock trim.
They shouldn't have detuned the F6, they should have made the GT faster instead. As much as I hate to say it, its getting its arse handed to it in a straight line against the LS2. The 6 speed manual was a positive step that made it a tenth or so quicker but it should have had some extra power to go with it, but I guess the auto is on its limits already so we won't see power upgrades till the six speed auto is ready.

Re: The Typhoon Clutch Fix

I dont think really its the power they have to increase. Ford should look at weight which is major factor for the GT a 1800kg+ vehicle isnt exactly a performance vehicle. I think really a car with 290kw should do any where between 13.5 and 13.7 stock as a rock. I dont understand how it can just dip in the 13sec barrier or just be in the 14 sec mark. Well with the LS2 making an appearance the boss will surely have some troubles keeping up but as you have mentioned BossXr8 maybe a 6spd box can do abit of wonders but will have to wait and see whats installed for us.

Traction is one problem with the manuals, they are regarded as being harder to launch than the Holdens, and the smaller power band doesn't help either. It needs a more even spread of power right through the rev range to get the weight moving faster sooner.

Re: The Typhoon Clutch Fix

BOSSXR8 speaking of traction i remember in MOTOR mag i think it was when they compared the GTHO VS BA GT the gtho takes the ba gt off the line and as its pulling away slowly the ba gt is still laying rubber but on the quarter the ba gt takes the win.

As we all know and other members have mentioned to get these top guns moving they would have to be bit more revvier, take off that extra weight and possibly cut down on those little extra luxury features which could get it moving off the mark alot faster and would help improve those quarter mile times.

Re: The Typhoon Clutch Fix

I don't believe in getting rid of some of the luxury features to save weight, thats the cheap way out. They need to look at making various parts out of alloy like dash support panels, suspension bits etc. The problem is things like this probably won't come until the Orion in 2007. Its so much easier to design these things into a clean sheet design than an old one.

Re: The Typhoon Clutch Fix

Spoke to FPV today and they said they are hoping to release the official fix date by the end of the week but in reality end users won't see the fix for about another 2.
