I heard today that the Typhoon won't have a Auto Transmission till late next year (manual only)...
Any one else heard this?
CLUNK GOES THE BACKLASH, CLUNK, CLUNK, CLUNK.
I'm gonna wait till they fix this so-called normal aberation before I get one, hopefully FPV might suprise us all. But then again if they rectify the prob I think they are gonna have one hell of a re-call on their hands. A new TREMEC and 3 New diffs please.

Maybe they're developing/acquiring a gearbox that can handle the torque. Could just be the same situation as when the XR8 and GT's first came out.
Then again it could be something completely different...

Acquiring is such a nice word .... plenty of good boxes around to handle that sort of torque that could also see duty in other FPV product. Perhaps the one from the Jag perhaps?
I'll paraphrase the Typhoon article in the latest Blueprint:
The project is being done to a price that sits under the GT (which itself is being done to "a price"). The limiting factor on the power/torque figures was the drivetrain provided. They don't have budget or pricing freedom to upgrade the drivetrain in the way BMW or Merc can. If you read between the lines it would seem it has been a point of some contention but ultimately dictated by it's sub-GT pricing.
I would think that this precludes the use of the Jag unit.

You're probably right Madder, and because this is a new level of torque for the auto to handle it will need to be durability tested, etc. After all it is only 3-4 years ago that it could not be put behind a 420Nm engine (AU1 TS50). Bit like the T5 manual, originally in the XE they only used them with the 3.3L six because they weren't strong enough for the 4.1!
