After hearing all this talk about how great the new modification APS phase kit upgrades and Unichips are, it makes me very interested in boosting up my ute, but i have been told that and engine management upgrades would void my Ford new car warranty, not to mention getting the insurance companys knickers in a knot! Can anyone tell me where the line is drawn between RTA approved modification, Ford approved modification and warranty voidance?

Also, what is the best cost effective way of improving the performance of my XR6T ute, since it already has a K+N air filter and a SS Induction Cold Air intake?

under waranty u can change the exhaust from the cat back, air filter and and induction as long as u dont change the air box or thats wat the herrods guy told me

With insurence, I called NRMA today about getting exaughst and other mods, and they said "If it improves the car's performance or disirebility (to be stolen) we hardly insure them." Name a mod that doesnot fall into those two catorgories.

I recommend that you call your insurer first to see if they cover it.

probly the only thing left to do where you can actualy notice significant power gains is go the edit or a piggyback chip

You can do anything you like to your car as far as warranty goes. If you have a problem with your car and the modifications you made caused the failure, you are to blame. If your modifications didn't cause the failure then Ford are responsible and will cover it under warranty.

There is no blanket voiding of warranty because you have modified your car.

Insurance on the other hand is a different story.
