What does the XR6T sound like? - Ford Forums

I am living over seas at the moment and since I left Ford has created the XR6T. Which I can't wait to see and drive for myself.

But having been a ford falcon driver myself I am curious as to what it sounds like?

Does it have a V8 raw? Does it sound like a normal straight 6 does?

I gotta say, when you get to drive, your smile will be wider than a fat womans crack! The exhaust on idle has a bit of a burble, and on higher revs, it does roar a bit. I would recommend a mandrell bent stainless steel exhaust from the cat back though. Makes a big diff in sound, and adds about 8kW at the wheels.

I honestly cant remember what it sound like with a stock exhaust....
Quite good i seem to recall, but with a modded exhaust it has a beautiful rumble...

To me they sound like skylines with a slightly deeper note.

They sound louder than a stock XR8 on idle! I couldnt beleive it. They sound great I reckon, I agree like a skyline. You can never compare the sound to a V8, but they sound really good in thier own way.

Well one magazine reviewer did seem to go on about it being the sweetest sounding australian made 6 ever..

they have done a gr8 job with the sound of these things...they growl quite loudly at idle...and when at full song they really arch up and have a fantastic growl/bark to them, its a very racey sound...gets the adrenaline pumping. its such a unique sound...almost like a mid 80s high performance BMW...but alot better!
