Re: wheels times for typhoon

well the good thing is that the GT is equal to the club sport in times so hopefully when the track is dryer (isnt that the reason they were slow) the times will still be the same...

Re: wheels times for typhoon

I think the XR6Turbo had faster times than what are there for the Typhoon. It should be alot quicker than that. I know stock auto "T's" with just a muffler removed and BMC filter are running high 13's low 14's.

Re: wheels times for typhoon

If you read under the title "Calder-What a Drag" in the Wheels article it talks about how a build up of rubber from a recent drag meet killed any meaningful standing-start attempts, with the times quoted by Night-Lurker...

When you think about it though, if what they are saying is correct (about the rubber on Calder, etc), it would punish the F6's 0-100 time the most because of its huge amount of torque (and its difficulty to get a clean, quick launch)

What they also mention is the in-gear acceleration for all 3 cars, as follows

3rd / 4th / 5th / 6th
80-120km/h
F6 3.8 / 4.7 / 6.6 / 9.6
GT 4.2 / 6.0 / 7.5 / 11.4
HSV 4.0 / 5.7 / 7.5 / 12.8

Its starting to get annoying to wait for realistic times for the F6, but they WILL come. If people have been spectulating that the 6.0L HSV can do 0-100 in 5.2 sec (and wheels only manage 6 sec), then the times for the F6 should be pretty good. Hopefully the next Motor will bring some good news...

Re: wheels times for typhoon

To put it into perspective here are the in gear times:

80-120km/h
Typhoon:
3rd-3.8sec 4th- 4.7sec 5th- 6.6sec 6th- 9.6sec

GT:
3rd- 4.2sec 4th- 6.0sec 5th- 7.5sec 6th- 11.4sec

Clubsport:
3rd- 4.0sec 4th- 5.7sec 5th- 7.5sec 6th- 12.8sec

Also Wheels had an explanation for the slow times:

As a track surface 'rubbers up' (becomes impregnated with tyre rubber) it usually brings more grip, but not during our visit to Calder Park, VIC. Thick rubber from a recent drag meet killed any meaningful standing-start attempts, and our times reflect this. Getting grip of the line was impossible, and all cars turned their 'best' times with low-rev, zero wheelspin launches. However, look closely at the 80-100km/h times, where it's all about engine performance and gearing. The F6 Typhoon's weight and torque advantage combine with tighter gearing to smoke the V8's. It's decisively quicker in every gear we tested. And with good traction underneath, the Typhoon should also embarrass the V8's off the line.

Re: wheels times for typhoon

Does anyone have the same in gear acceleration times for a standard XR6T?
