From various threads i have read, it seems those that want to keep the car standard will buy the XR8 or FPV cars, yet those who want more performance will buy the XR6t.

regarding athlons post, i suppose the XR6T has more scope for modification - in terms of bang for your buck. However most people buying a new BA probably wouldnt be thinking about major mods for a while - first off theres warranty to consider, secondly you should wait to see what the best mods are before going out and potentially stuffing up your new car with an ill thought out mod that hasnt been proven yet.
You forgot the N/A XR6 - ahhh to forever live in the shadow of your big brother!! ***sighs and wonders what might have been if i had an extra 7 grand in my hand when i bought my XR6. oh well......guess ill have to wait three years - car loan paid off, XR6 goes to my girlfriend (where i can still obsess over her - im talkin about the car!) and a shiny new XR6T to keep my baby company in the driveway.

There's just something about an 8 which I just can't get enough of. I have no doubt fellow v8 owners know exactly what I mean which is why they would also swear by their beasts.
Sure the turbo packs a hell of a punch & produces better numbers than the 8 but for me personally, it's the quality of the ride that makes me look forward to driving it each day. It can be sophisticated one moment, then turn brutal with the slightest provocation.
In summation, there is no way anyone can say that 1 is better than the other. It's a personal thing and both have their positives. My recommendation is to take your time & try both. Pick the one that's right for you.

Do others agree with this?
I think there is a bot of scope for modification of the XR8, just look at the GT. There is always forced induction......

I totally agree with you. This is why I got the XR8 and not the XR6T. I knew they may have been faster but I still love the 8's more than any turbo, except maybe the 7.3 power stroke in the F250's.
