Right. Nothing.
I don't know about Motor deliberately running slow accelleration times but it seems that they bagged the hell out of the Typhoon deliberately.
Motivation=Being accused of flat shifting and having a laugh back at Ford.

What does everyone think?
I think you will find as the engine and drivetrain runs in and the weather gets a little cooler that the Typhoon will break into the 13's for sure.

I remember being at Calder with motor magazine when testing of the GT was conducted. The best the journos could manage was a 13.99 pass and that was after about 4 hours at the track and approx 20 runs down the strip, the motor guys spent all morning to acheive a 13.99 pass, and the guys tried every technique to get the best possible ET from the GT.

I'm sure that the Typhoon will deliver much better times with more kms on the car, it's only a matter of time before the stock typhoon breaks into the high 13's.

Re: Why the slow times??

Oh, come on. Seriously?

MOTOR quite likes the car, apart from three things: it doesn't go hard enough at the top end (for evidence of this, try to find an owner who hasn't modded it or doesn't have plans to); it's too heavy and; it's got obvious development problems.

MOTOR has never called it a dog - just been disappointed that its straight line sprinting (or lap time, for that) speed hasn't lived up to expectations and, despite the early promise, FPV still doesn't have a car that can match an HSV on raw pace. That's what the F6 was initially promised to be, and it isn't.

Pete Luxon (and a bunch of other aftermarket guys) do a great job, but why should owners have to turn to them to get the car FPV promised in the first place?

there's nothing petty or vindictive about pointing out any of these things. all three of them have subsequently been backed up by owners.
MOTOR just wanted the problem cleared up, once and for all, and did everything in its power to get that to happen. FPV was left all sorts of messages, had two broken cars to collect, yet proceeded with an engineering investigation without calling our office to ask how or why. Not after two identical breakages.

MOTOR received not one piece of communication from FPV until after it went to the press with the now-infamous "flat-shifting" comment - which it has since retracted.

the MOTOR team was disappointed, yes, but we've closed the loop on that whole business now and, between us and FPV we've developed a protocol to ensure such communications blockages don't happen again.

But there would be no mileage in deliberately running slow times because we were vexed by something, or in bagging the product because an internal FPV process wasn't working.

We have a job to do for readers, and that's to be fair, accountable and impartial. That's what we did. Nothing more, nothing less.

According to Roy Morgan research, we have around 400,000 readers. there's one FPV. We're not about to place being peeved with one FPV above what we regard as our duty to 400,000 readers.

Re: Why the slow times??

The way I see it The Motor and wheels have had the advantage of having the last laugh and the latest mag show it even if some of it is hypocritical when compared to the previous issue.
Most of the motoring public will read and believe what you people write and as such Ford and PFV have shot them self in the foot big time by accusing you people of flat shifting and destroying what they said they couldn’t. (The clutch)

I don’t blame either magazine or journalist for the latest editorials on the comparison which would indicate a bitter taste is still left in most if not all of the jurno’s.

What’s that old saying? “Payback’s a B!tch”

Maybe if and when the F6 is ever sorted out maybe Ford and FPV could have you write up an apology from them and make some effort to explain the faults the accusations and the fix regarding the clutch and then maybe with a decent F6 with a decent clutch could be tested and an new report published good or bad but at least without the friction and bad blood that currently exists.

Either way Ford should not have mouthed off and should have taken the faulty vehicles and looked at the Clutch problem which has now come back and bitten them fair and square on the ass.

The way I see it is Ford need to do 3 things to rectify this fiasco and that is:
Publicly apologise to the magazine people and have it published in both magazines.
Rectify the clutch problem 100%.
Finally set the PCM to produce the correct engine output that this vehicle warrants. (285kw)(550nm)

Or the F6 could die a slow death! or is it dead already ???????????

I go by, where there is smoke there is fire and i for one wouldnt like to be spending that amount of money and finding this problem actually exists and i know who would be outa pocket.
They certainly wouldnt replace it and wouldnt give you a lone car the same, let alone time taking it to the dealer and picking it up again. I can imagine it would happen more than once.
Go to sell it and hate to think what you will get for it.
1 yr old pursuits are only bringing 35K with 20k on the clocks thats, 27k in 12 months now thats what i call bloody expensive motoring.
It is going to be very difficult to regain a good name for the car as it has been tarnished and as they say its easy to get a bad name but by hell its hard to get a good name!!!!!!!!
The old saying goes the Sh** always starts at the top as thats where the final decissions are made.
I wouldn't of cancelled the order over a mag write up.U might find that u like the F6 were someone elses tastes are different. The F6 is a modified XR6T so it can't be as bad as what they state it is.Clutch failures will get rectified.U might be missing out on Aust best mass produced vechile???
