There is no comparison

An APS stage one kit will give you more power than the F6 for a lot cheaper price.

Yes, but with a potenial factory voided warranty. With the F6 you get, better wheels, better body kit and a stronger motor, bigger intercooler and stronger gearbox (hopefully) and optional Bembro. Its also a FPV at that. This all for approx 9k more (est). If thats not enough add your $1500 chip and look out!

It's great value for money and I would say just as fast, if not faster than a XR6T with the APS Stage 1 kit.

Time will tell.

Ah yes, if only the F6 was available when I was looking, but alas it wasn't. It certainly looks like it will provide a great base to work on.

I would say any warranty claim that Ford can attribute to a chip (or any after market modification) is likely to voided on ANY car including the F6 and this is fair and reasonable.

Agreed Mick. I guess for me what the F6 offers is a way to achieve the performance of the Stage 1 chip among other good things and keep within warranty. Having said that, it’s going to be a challenge for any warm blooded man or women to resist tinkering at least a little. The lour of the ‘spool’ is strong my son.....lol

Re: Why the XR6T over the XR8?

I test drove a Ghia V8 (its no XR8 i know) and the fuel economy from only the 220 threw me a bit. Plus it doesn't have that turbo 'rush' on kickdown or during acceleration. I love the sound of a V8 but I couldn't afford one really, plus they are harder and more expensive to modify. With the XR6T I feel like i have a really solid foundation for a true performance car. All the bits are there, you just have to make them work harder.

Ain't that the truth LOL!

Not sure about better looking wheels on it though. I'm very undecided on both the wheels and the rear wing.

As for it being a FPV, for me personnally, that doesn't mean a thing. I'm not one for brand names.

Anyway back to the topic LOL

Re: Why the XR6T over the XR8?

are you kidding?! the question should be why get an XR8 over a turbo!! lets see:
turbo sounds louder, and growwwwls
turbo is quicker in straight line
turbo is quicker round corners due to less weight
turbo is 6K cheaper
the torque is awesome...and has more pull than the xr8 at 100
auto works better in turbo than xr8

only better thing bout the xr8 is the manual gearbox...but even then its not much quicker at all...the manual in the turbo isnt nearly bad enough to defer from getting manual if u wanted it.
ive been preeching this story for ages...the turbo is better in all driving conditions/instances
i wish the xr8 was quicker, coz i wouldve liked one...but i was gonna get the quicker car...the one that felt quicker, and went quicker. simple as that
turbo wins hands down

Re: Why the XR6T over the XR8?

I just want to say for the record that I love my XR8.....
Feeling a little insecure around here.....

The lour of the bulge and the V8 sound is also pretty strong. Good points Vemon.
Ok to even things up a bit lets look at why you would get an XR8 over a turbo:

• V8 sounds better, and actually roars deeper under load even when stock!
• V8 is quicker out of the box up to 100 (most common range for most)
• V8's slightly nose heavy weight gives a great sense of solidness and substance under normal driving conditions.
• V8 is ‘only’ 6K dearer, but you get a bulge, an stronger/ better gearbox and a bloody impressive size engine to show ya mates!
• The car has more presence and appears more unique than the thousands of other Xr6's on the road. ie. better show pony if you like.
• V8 torque has more pull between 4-6000 rpm. (and did I mention the sound?)
• Manual works better in V8 than turbo
• XR8 looks better with the optional 18"- just my opinion.
• You’ll get away easier with the copycat GT stripes in an XR8 (if you're that way inclined.

Hehe, seriously they are both great cars. The XR8 is a great show pony and an awesome beast of a machine like the GT. The XR6T is more understated yet more serious about delivering overall performance to the masses.

Re: Why the XR6T over the XR8?

Ahh yes but if ford see u take your F6 on the track they void your warranty,if you mod it they void your warranty if you drive it in a performance matter (Ie) Do burnouts they void your warranty phhh Its not like the days of the GTHO they know now exactly how the cars been treated via the ECU.So why buy an F6 and lose your warranty when with the same money you can buy an XR6T mod it and with the money left if something breaks use the oney u saved by not buying an F6 to repair it. And still go faster than the F6.
Regards
Stang
