I convinced a friend of mine to buy a XR6T so he did, sight unseen and picked it up last week.
I went to visit him a couple of days later and he was very pissed off with both me and the car suggesting that it was the most gutless piece of crap he had ever driven and if that was Ford performance he wanted no part of it and was actually going to go and trade it on a Holden.
When I tried to defend it he thrw me the keys and said "Go and drive it".
I did. When I stood on the go pedal I expected it to take off like a cut cat. It did, if the cat had had its legs cut off. It made a huge wooshing noise like an old XF and blasted up the road like a Mondeo running LPG.
I detoured to the nearest Ford service centre and showed it to the workshop manager there. You have a turbo problem he said, hang on and I will have a look. Sure enough the hose under the turbo was not connected and the clamp holding it on was about 5 inches down the pipe.
Was really good for cleaning the leaves off the driveway.
Goes heaps better now and he is a much happier camper.

Let him that hath understanding count the number of the BEAST:
for it is the number of a F6 Typhoon; and its number is 0217.
Heh.... good ending to the story, but he couldn't have had too much faith in Ford to have given up so easily. Great for things to be sorted out anyway :-)
can i just ask why in god's name did your friend go out and spend $45k on a car he hadn't driven, seen, or heard about except for a 'friend' convincing him? strikes me as pretty weird... but anyway, good to hear he's a happy camper now.
What's wrong with that? I actually ordered my XR6T about 3 weeks ago with no test drive at all. I did however read up on alot of XR6T stuff and decided it was the car I wanted. I was looking at buying an R34 Skyline GT-T, but the XR6T won my vote.
hmm... if my car wasnt performing to what i thought it should and it was new, i'd be taking it to a dealer myself.
funny how it took u to do it before anything was done
