Question XR6 TURBO + boost

hey, does anyone of you have some idea of how much power the XR6 turbo can produce if boost if lifted to 12 - 15 psi.

think i remember being told the "stock" turbo has 6psi. so 15psi should be pushing over 300kW easy i'm guessing.

and yes, i know you have to change the gear box etc etc to handle the extra power/torque and i know ford has put a security seal on the engine.

how do you anti-ricers feel about putting a EVO lancer style bonnet with air vents, huge GT style rear wing and 19's on the baby. Give me one in black any time!

seen latest wheels and goauto. all bloody good so far. Also a shocking picture in wheels of the rear of the commodore that shows very clearly how wrong it fits with the rest of the car. ain't saying it's bad, but i do have my opinions

I have heard that Ford have had a 240T engine producing 300Kw's. Can't verify it but it is from a pretty good source.

Driver, do you have any idea of what type of boost that was running. i also remember reading from somewhere on this forum that the turbo can produce 270kw in cool humid conditions. am assuming this was a standard turbo. so maybe 15psi can produce close to 400kW, or am i just dreaming on this one.

I don't know right now but I am trying to find out more details. But I don't think it would take much to get more power once you override the ECU. Cold air, exhaust and chip like what the ricers do will increase power and yes, cool condtions help.

Don't try to claim any warranty after doing this though....

Nearly all the engineers that have been allowed to play with the motor got mega increases with a little mucking around.
I used to work for Walkers Australia and the engineers there got 270 by stuffing with an after market wastegate. Obviously it wasn't there job to do so they were just stuffing around.
I think that the BA240T motor is no where near it's potential and it's simply the fact that Ford don't want to lay all the cards on the table.
I think the BAII will see a new 6 speed and a lot more power comming out.
that's my 2c

Its hard to get a straight answer on anyone about how strong the BTR auto is. The one in my ED only needs minor work for a 250kw supercharger. I'd assume it can take a fair bashing.

Ford don't want to "steal the thunder" from their upcomming XR8 which they have also put a lot of effort into.

The new 5.4L V8 is very much an aussie invention and will be one of the nicest V8's in the world - up there and if not better than the M5 engine.

I also think its true that Ford are holding their cards for the BA2 in order to keep the sales strong.

I am really excited about the XR6T - It has the worlds most advanced 6cyl engine and combined with its engineering marvel control blade irs, superb steering and handling, great looks and certainly the best interior seen on an Aussie car it would have to be the best 6cyl sports sedan in the world. The Audi S4 is now second (maybe thats why they made the RS4 wagon).
