Hey guys, just thought id jump on and ask all you ppl a question.
I have just put deposit down on an XR6T (manual off course) and i was thinking of changing the factory bosch BOV with something like a go fast bits mach 1 (something that makes noise)
I just wanted to know has anybody played with blowoff valves, what brands, what sound, and any problems ??
The BA runs fairly low boost so i would say just about any type will do but bein a 4L engine you might want to look in the direction of an aftermarket item for say a GTR perhaps? not certain of this tho
BOV get real annoying after a while, i have a lot of friends with turbo cars, they seem to like the idea of a BOV, but most of them take them off after a while.
if anything get something quiet. HKS make a real quiet one, sound similar to the hondas in the fast and the furious.
i didnt say it had anything to do with the BOV
i said the BOV does the whoosh....then there is a flutter noise
it probly sounded like i said that the bov does the flutter ..but yeh..i know it doesnt....
Why people want to put illegal atmo venting BOV's on their car amazes me. they get friggn anoying after about 30 mins of driving, and it gives the cops a reason to pull you over / defect you.
I have to agree if you want a nice sounding BOV you cant go past the HKS. Blitz make a pretty good BOV as well its got a twin chamber set up (very loud) good if you want to get noticed.

they dont they want to put legal BOV that vent atmosperic gas, ie they are installed on the intake side not the exhaust side, therfore are venting harmless air.
Ok a few questions in regards to the XR6-T BOV. Firstly do they have a standard one that plubs back into the intake. If so than replacing it with an after market BOV will yield no advantages.
The other issue is whether the standard BOV (if it has one) is adequete enough to vent the back pressure.
If the XR6-T does not have an aftermarket BOV, then putting one on will actually benefit when changing at high revs (the actual turbine wheel doesn't slow down as much as the pack pressure is vented. Therefore the turbo spools quicker on re-acceleration.
XR6Ts do have a factory BOV, Bosch brand I think. Chris over at the OTHER FORUM has just installed an aftermarket one on his car a GFB Stealth FX that is adjustable. See details about it here. http://www.gofastbits.com.au/stealth.htm
