I talked to the cop at the Geelong birthday for Ford, he was driving a white XR6 Turbo all kitted out.
He said the cop turbos come with a chip that puts out 255kw and also that they arent speed limited.
He said that the Geelong cops and surrounding areas have strongly prefered SS's as pursuit cars, but the big wigs around are very impressed with the XR8's and turbos they have now.
I'd expect that the XR8s are also de-speed limited, and maybe have more power than the standard xr8 too, anyone know more bout the cop xr8's?

Standard vehicles power wise, no magic chips, all police vehicles including the utes do have the option to adjust the speedo whilst driving, + or - 10 km/hr.They do run some extras like a heavy duty wiring loom, interior light cut off switch and so on.

I think it's upto the discretion of the police officer to how fast they go before calling the chase/pursuit off.. No speed limiters just give the cops that extra bit of power if they need it, as long as they use it wisely, it should be kewl..
The cop was having you on - he probably doesn't have a clue about what he's driving.
Yagz, your nearly right - its the pursuing officer as well as the duty supervisor/higher rank supervising the chase. It will be called off for various reasons, including certain speeds etc.
From my understanding there arent power gains, just changes to the point where the auto tranny changes, a bit more rougher than a stock turbo unit. It's simply a flash put in by the WDS at the dealer
Also on the dash where the odometer is displayed, the exact speed of the car is recorded and if the officer wishes to do so, when the mode button is pressed that speed is locked into memory (to remind him of what to write on the ticket)
