I own a BA XR6 Turbo ute and have a major problem with it..
It is supposed to have around 450 nM of torque from 2000 - 4500 rpm, mine actually loses torque between 2000 revs and 3500 revs and then starts to climb in torque. It is down 35 - 40% power in that rev range. It only develops 150 rear wheel KW at 5250 rpm, and at 2000 rpm It only has 1 - 1.5psi boost when it is supposed to have 4 psi and doesnt develop the 4 psi untill 3500rpm. At 5250rpm it has nearly 5 psi boost when it is supposed to have 7.5psi boost. I have contacted Ford about this problem for the last 3 months, and had a mechanic come up from Ford headquarters and he said he thinks it is close enough to normal and basically doesnt want anything to do with it as i am the only with this problem he has seen. Just wondering if anyone else has had a problem like this as i am trying to take this further and get something done about it. I even get beaten off the lights by last years model Fairmont Ghia... in short this car is the most disappointing car ive ever owned. I just want to let other people know about this problem and how Ford handle this thing (deny everything). I can be contacted via email at stephenjacob@iprimus.com.au if anyone else has the same problem as I want to take this matter to consumer affairs.
