My XR6 Turbo is going in for it's first service tommorow. I am going to ask them about the new detuned ECU flash and whether it applies to the MkII vehicles as well as the MkI vehicles at 40 000kms as reported in this forum. Will let you all know what I discover.

Have I missed something

?? "Detuned ECU Flash" WTF - Whats is this about. I know about the fix to stop overboost, Ford have done mine - but whats this detuned buisness.

PS - The 3000k service is an inspection only - make sure you change the oil at least (if you havn't already)

I got the car back yesterday and took it for a good run and noticed no difference. Particularly the fact that the brakes still squeal and there is still an annoying shudder from underneath the car when cold and idling, despite me asking them to look at both things.

I asked the service manager about the new ECU programming and he said that because of the build date for the car, it would already be the latest version. I didn't test drive before getting this car so I have no benchmark to compare. He also said specifically that the latest ECU program is a recall and that it isn't optional.
