Hi all. I'm hoping someone could help me out by taking 5 minutes with a tape measure and note pad.

I'd like to know some dimensions for the 4.0 litre Turbo engine.

For my purposes height (from bottom of sump to highest components - probably top of part of the intake) is probably the most important measurement.

It would also be helpful to have measurements for width at widest point (not just the engine but including exchaust/turbo stuff) and total length.

Thanks in advance to whoever is cool enough to get out the Stanley retractable... measurements don't have to be 100% precise but close would be good.

C'mon guys, surely enough readers of the board have a 4.0 litre turbo six powered vehicle and a measuring tape.

I have been told the engine + turbo package is very wide for a straight six turbo engine.

If nobody can give me dimensions, perhaps you could suggest a wrecker in Sydney who usually has XR6T engines?

Ok measurements are for an XR6 Turbo engine.

You will need to allow about 10mm either way as it was alittle difficult to get real accuracy in the engine bay of the car.

The Overall length from back of block to edge of front pulley- 800mm

Overall width from edge of turbo to edge of intake- 730mm

Overall height from bottom of sump to top of crossover pipe- 680mm

These measurements should encompass all the bolt on accessories that are on the engine too such as alternator, air con compressor etc.

thanks heaps mate just doing all the planning side of things atm but hoping to put it all into a 67 mustang coupe. the manuals are going cheap in these things cos every1 is after the 6speed auto's...

* also if any1 knows any1 thats after a mustang or thunderbird tell them 2 call mark on 0407 703 957 he has 65 mustang GT coupe, 66 mustang coupe, 66 mustang GT Fastback, 2 x 65 Thunderbird coupe's and a 64 thunderbird coupe.

...that's a starting point. It looks like the XR6 T engine will be very very tight in my application but the measurements are not quite enough to put me off yet, I will do some further investigations.

Length, no problem. Height... would be tight but there's always the option of a reverse scoop A9X Torana style. Width... very tight... I will have to look into whether I can save a few mm by resectioning or re-routing manifolds.

I'll have to track down a wrecker with a front cut and do some further research.

The currently engineless vehicle is a Datsun 240z. 4 litres of turbocharged engine would make for a very interesting/fun ride.

No problem guys.

An XR6T engine will make that thing fly. Man they make a big Falcon go like hell.

The engine is very wide in the centre section because of the turbo so at the front and back of the engine it is not so wide.
