Re: XR6T Mod results

I better be carefull then! If i can ever get an edit done here in Canberra!

Still waiting for the tuner to sort the crap out from SCT to get his software going!!!

My accelerator foot is getting itchy! 3 weeks now!

Hopefully the disk he got from CAPA today will get him sorted, but its not much point getting it done this week anyway as im off to the V8 Supercars in Adelaide on thursday morning!

GO MARCUS!!!!

Question Re: XR6T Mod results

Given that the limit of the stock injectors is 260 rwkw, if someone was
planning on not changing the stock injectors, would there be any
point in doing any other mods other than the EDIT?

In other words, would you be just as well to get the EDIT done to
get to 260rwkw's without bothering about second air intake, bigger cat,
& centre muffler removal?

Or do the other mods improve torque & driveabilty to the extent where
they would still be worthwile???

Re: XR6T Mod results

The mods i have done have greatly assisted in not only the overall performance of the vehicle, but also in the fuel economy as well as the sound of it.

Im happy with that alone, but an edited car with an improved breathing system has to have more performance and achieve it easier than one thats stock as a rock.

I think if you look at the basics of tuning a car for more performance, the first thing to do is to get rid of the obvious restrictions. How far we want to go in doing that is up to everyones individual finances and exact requirements of what they want their car to do!

As for my edit, i think the only guy prepared to do it in Canberra is having so much trouble getting his software up and running, i wouldnt be surprised if CAPA get a dealer package returned to them in the mail with a shove it in your note attached!

Re: XR6T Mod results

And finally, i have the edit installed with a custom tune-

My car is the first custom tune that Jakes Performance in canberra has done so it was a bit of a learning curve for him, and nothing ever runs as per plan.

Today my ute did 27 dyno runs! Yep, 27! About run number 6 it was as high as 255.7rwkw, and looked great! With a second run the boost went all over the shop! Inconsistent and surging everywhere!

The rest of the day was spent learning why, but at the end of the day, dyno run no 27 shows 233.4rwkw, with a strong boost line and a smooth power line. I'll scan it tomorrow.

Driving it on the road is where the real difference lies, the low rpm power is great! Off the line it gunna really scare the SS utes, thats for sure!

While 233.4 isnt the highest result, like i said, its the first time Jake has used this software, and is very interested in the long term results, has offered to re tune it for free as he becomes more experienced with it.

Anyway, time for a cruize!
