Yeap the new unit EEC-VII is a sequel to the EEC-V. It should be noted that the EEC-V wasn't fully explored yet.

BE interesting to see how they get around the cam timings being DOHC. I guess they might be able to figure the limiter stuff like boost and torque which is a start.

The other factor is to see how good the chip is at learning modifications. EECV was relatively good in that respect.

Just thought of a couple of other possibilities for messing around with the new XR. I can't even tune a radio let alone a car so bear in mind EVERYTHING I say is pure bovine excreta.

Like ebxr8240 and MartyH said, you'd get a piggyback chip that fakes boost and runs extra injectors so you can get more power.

You could prolly mess with the compression a bit. The XR6T runs a 8.75 CR (I think), which is a bit low for 6psi of boost and can run 91RON. For comparison, the R33 RB25DET runs a 9.0 CR and more boost (maybe 0.8 bar = 11psi) and needs 98RON. You don't even need the extra fuel for this as the fuel just burns more efficiently, giving more power. But this is a big pain as the head has to come off.

Also boost peak for the Skyline is a lot later than the Ford, the Ford's making peak boost around 2grand and it winds down from there. The Skyline's peak torque is about 4800rpm so peak boost's prolly around there as well. You'd get more power out of the XR without increasing peak boost, but holding that boost for longer (P=wT). Of course more torque means you blow the gearbox...

Say a 9.0:1 CR, 8psi of peak boost at about 4000rpm... Oh yeah, intercooler, exhaust and all... Don't know the math but bloody hell, you already got 240kW, how much more can you want? I'm pretty sure that someone will be able to get at about 20% more out of these cars for under $5k when more tuners get a hold of the car. But you'd be hard pressed to see 700+ rwhp out of the XR6 like you see with Supras and Skylines because I doubt the bottom end could handle that kind of power and the Ford I6 has a much longer stroke so it can't rev as hard. I'll look up the exact dimensions tomorrow when I'm less sleepy.

Does anyone know the max power the Barra turbos can flow? Does the Barra run EECV or EECVII?

Yes.. max power is impressive. If you can afford Av-Gas & be able to rebuild your motor every week you can get ~400+kw from it.

All Barra's run EEC-VII.
