Hi guys. Any thoughts on trading my missus xr6T for the Typhoon. I already have a GT-P for a toy, but I am seriously considering trading the wife's series 1 Turbo for the typhoon. Is it worth it? What are the drawbacks from driving the phoon day to day. I know that the GT-P bashes the front spoiler on practically anything, and the seats are a pain to get in and out on a regular basis, but the typhoon seats are more easy. Is the performance worth the cost? Is it a good day to day car for three kids and 45000km per year? Thoughts anyone...

Yeah - I'd do it if i had THAT much money to throw away plus the extra in fuel usage.

I mean, a typhoon is not really a family car to be frank - why bother? dont mean to sound SO negative - but surely there'd be a more practical choice for three kids + mum?


if you wanted practical + grunt go for a Turbo Territory, due out next month. Even better, wait for a FPV Territory Turbo.

Yeah I once heard that a Typhoon is for the bogan that always wanted a muscle car, and when he finally got the money together he somehow picked up a wife and three kids on the way. .

I have a phoon and whilst it can be driven like Mum's Taxi I think that would be a sad thing.

I reckon the new Turbo Territory will be the best of both worlds with a ZF auto.... you wife can be the soccer mum from hell

Yeah, I'm with Peter on this one. The F6 front spoiler is too low for day to day use in shopping centre parks, schools etc. If you fuss over the GT-P now then the F6 will be just as bad, if not worse being possibly newer. Seats are better than the GT-P for getting in and out of as you said. I reckon either a Territory Ghia or a Turbo Territory is the way to go.

Despite this, if your still keen on the F6 then I think it's definatley worth the dosh over the XR6T. Another option is a XR5. Better appointed than the XR6T, just as fast i would imagine, massive boot and room for 3 kids (if they are small) and it's $36k- with 18" and Recaro's. I bought a new Zetec for the family run around and it makes an excellent family car (My daughters are only 6-8 however).

Thanks guys, I am tending to say no at the moment. I had the demonstrator for the weekend, and while it is better than the turbo, I do not really think it is worth that much over the T.
