Looking at updating my AUII XR8. Not sure to replace it with another XR8, or a XR6 Turbo! Whats your thourghts?

hmmmm that should be obvious .... u gonna modify it? if not go for the xr6 tubo by far better than the xr8

take the 3k or whatever u save on the xr8 get extractors and lower ur car

I had the AU XR8 also, and now own a Turbo. I've had the XR6T for 2 years now. Although I miss the sound of the V8, I love the rush of the Turbo. Unfortunately the new V8's don't have the low down torque of the old V8's anyway.

I looked at trading the Turbo in on a GT a few months ago, but it felt like the Turbo had more power/torque (by the bumometer that is) than the GT.

The Turbo feels much quicker on the track too.

I now have the SCT Flash Tuner and the Turbo is even better. If you can live without the V8 sound than go the Turbo. But if sound and show is what you are after I think the V8 is better.

Give me a Supercharged XR8 and I'll be happy. Until then, I'll take the XR6 Turbo

You can't put extractors on a turbo car, it ahs a turbo manifold that the TURBO needs to bolt too

This is a doozey. I have answered this on the other forums (that shall not be named here.

Basically the XR6 Turbo is by far a better car, its faster in a straight line, faster through the gears and can cross the 400m faster. It handles better and is way more fun to drive, its an absolute darling to drive normally, and car rip up asphalt when you sink the right foot, it can hose almost any V8 in a roll on on the freeway. And sounds beautiful under WOT. And it does all this for much less up front $$, less rego and usually less insurance than the XR8.

But, the bulge. The Bulge is an amazing thing. You'll drive one and then become stuck between a rock and a hard place. The bulge can go almost as fast, in fact its probably more satisfying to get up compared to the Turbo, but ultimately not as fun.

Personally - Turbo for outright performance and if you want to make subtle mods you can and no one will ever know, only that the G-Forces pulling them in the seat will give it away.

XR8 - Looks and satisfaction that your dick is bigger than theirs. THe bulge makes certain that even if its not as fast as it should be, its giving the driver every last little bit of satisfaction that other V8s only provide under WOT. Simply put, the XR8 will make you look good even when your not driving it.

The only reason to go the XR8 is if you want the bulge on the car, not the pants. The turbo is the go - faster, quicker over 400m, better handling dynamics, more torque lower in the rev range, and better bang for your buck when modified. No contest really. If you want the sound of a V8, put on a CD!
