Re: XR6T V's XR8

I'm sure either with be a satisfying update from your current ride. As for the XR6T, I'm happy with it!

In gear, particularly the higher gears, the turbo is heaps quicker, which if you drive a manual, is the difference between having to change gears in the 8, or just staying in the gear you are in the turbo. This would suggest a rolling start between a turbo and 8 would give the advantage to the turbo, unless the 8 just happened to be right in the meat of it's rev-range.
Probally the same reason why they are only pulling 14 flat in a GT. When once again real people who own these cars can produce better times. As a guessitamate i'd say not enought time with the cars, probally the hardest car ive driven to get off the mark in a hurry. I only ever take the times the mags produce as general at best, go have a look at the track and see what real cars are running. With the new 6 speed it's much easier to get the car back into the meat of it's rev range, the gears are setup well once your up and moving. The only thing i dont like or wish was better is that when you drop into second to take a corner (Driving normal) or a roundabout it's a little sluggish driving out and 1st isn't an option in most cases.

Even a good driver behind a N/A XR6 (or XT) and SV6 won't let you get too far off into the distance. Only on a race track will you see who has the advantage.
Unless you in an 8o zone, or a private track.

Re: XR6T V's XR8

EASY TO ANSWER. Apart from the sound and bonnet bulge the xr6t is faster easier to modify and apparantly steers better no brainer for me XR6T. I wish i could afford one, will this be brand new, if so see if you can get them to put an XR8 bonnet on it then all your missing is the rumble and you wont know what that sounds like because you'll be to far in front lol.

Re: XR6T V's XR8

It may seem to be quicker but it aint SIMPLE. I've raced a mates GTI-R and on a standing start it beats me by a length, rolling start i smash it by 3+ lengths. He's raced heaps of XR6T's and only lost to a phase 2 kitted car. Show me a time slip of a T that has gone faster than 13.8 stock on std tyre's and ill shut up till then the Boss owns the road.

Re: XR6T V's XR8

The GTI-R would run in the high 13 sec bracket. Can you imagine the power to weight ratio the SR20DET motors are pretty good especially when you start modifying them. By the way i was reading a member put a aftermarket filter on his T with no other mod and got a 13.8 outta of it. Even in stock form i know someone who raced a GTI-R with a XR6T and had it for dinner but the question was could it been a mock up GTI-R?.

Best times ive seen for the boss motors BA XR8= 14.4 BA GT 13.9, 14.2 and a 13.7 but havent seen a timeslip for it. BA GT-P MK II= 13.8

Re: XR6T V's XR8

My brother has a gemini with a sr20t engine out of a silvia which come standard with less kw's than the GTI-R, and with stock internals he managed a 13.3 the other night and he cut a crap light it was his first time also didn't give it everything might be able to hit 12's. i'm sure the GTI-R's are a low 13 sec. car i have a mate with a official nissian book so i'll ask and get back to ya.
