Hi just out on intrest, why is the commodore supercharged six such a dog. Is it severly de-tuned etc.
Wouldn't it almost make sense for Holden to release an upgraded version of the supercharged V6 to compete against the XR6T?
Just wondering as most people who supercharged their Ford 6's generally end up with in excess of 220Kw..is the holden 6 that bad that the measly amount of power 17 odd kilowatts is all it can muster?
the big thing with the blown dunnydore is the torque.....they're using a positive displacement blower.....
Dave.

Not may be, is, and yes this "commodore" will make around 200kw NA, so the turbo version will be right up their with the groundbreaking xr6T.
The commodores charger which is the M90 is not very big for the engine size so even with some good boost it won't make a whole lot of power. The charger kits available for the I6 use the M112 charger which is more suited. So it will make more power at the same pressure as its more efficient. Unfortunately Buick had to use the pissy small M90.

Lets just say from the seat of my pants that 171kw is being very very modest and it was rated at that to make the 5.0L 179kw look respectable.
Lets just say that the instant torque on the s/c commodores are quite amazing (despite being an old design yada yada yada) and considering there hooked up in an auto as well.

Still in Motor last year (sorry cant remember what issue) the BA Falcon XR6 N/A Comparo vs VY Commodore Supercharged still saw the Falcon in front for performance (while only marginally).
So being that the XR6 N/A is 182kw the Commodore S/C 171 kw can't be that far behind actual figures.
That is of coarse unless the XR6 N/A is also under actual.

The Commodore SC 6 has standard high compression pistons, the XR6T is de-compressed and has an intercooler. If you decompress the c'dore you can screw the M90 to over 200 kw.
The s/c figures were not understated, it was the V8's that were overstated. New motor is due out soon so holden wouldn't bother doing more work on the old buick...
